SWINGOLOGY (BLUE COLORED VINYL) / DJANGO REINHARDT / TRIBUTE TO WILLIAM P. GOTTLIEB

• 180g blue colored vinyl – 18 classic tracks
• Includes exclusive photographs by William P. Gottlieb

Description

Swingology celebrates the enduring genius of Django Reinhardt, one of the most influential guitarists in jazz history. Born in 1910, Reinhardt overcame a devastating fire that left two fingers of his fretting hand partially paralyzed, reinventing his technique and developing a singular style that defined Gypsy swing.

After forming the Quintet of the Hot Club of France in 1934 with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, Reinhardt rose to international prominence. This collection presents some of his most iconic recordings, including “Minor Swing,” “Nuages,” “Manoir De Mes Rêves,” and “Django’s Tiger,” showcasing his lyrical phrasing, rhythmic drive and unmistakable tone.

This limited edition 180-gram blue colored vinyl also pays tribute to legendary jazz photographer William P. Gottlieb (1917–2006), featuring exclusive cover and back cover images from his celebrated archive documenting the golden age of jazz.
